Kids Klick Goes Hunting!

This is my 2nd involvement in Kids Klick project after the Kids Klick outing at Putrajaya Mosque in April 2006.

18th November 2006: An exciting Kids Klick Project held at the Tugu Negara and the Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens in Taman Tasik Negara (Lake Garden), Kuala Lumpur from 9.00am to 2.00pm. The project was called “Kids Klick Goes Hunting!” with 40 orphans from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyrakat for photo hunting.

Canon was the main contributor to loan 30 of Digi-Cams for the kids. There were also some contributors, sponsors, volunteers, PM’ers (PhotoMalaysia.com members) and guardians involved to a successful and enjoyable project with the kids.

I’d invited friends to participate this project but only Ken and Irene could come. This project was their first time to get up-close and personal with the orphans while photographing. It was their good experiences to learn photography with the kids.

It was very sunny bright day that it’s perfect to shoot. The PM’ers assembled at the Tugu Negara to get some briefing on the agenda. The kids arrived at about 9.30am and each guardians (PM’ers/volunteers) was assigned with one kid for the entire event. My kid was Hadi who is 12 years old boy. We then divided into 4 groups. My team was in Group B. All of us headed to Tugu Negara to start the photo hunting.

After an hour shoot at Tugu Negara, we headed back and assembled with the kids. The kids were treated with ice-creams; thanks to the kind-heart sponsors.

Then we walked all the way to Orchid & Hibiscus Gardens. From here, we were given an hour to shoot around the gardens.

And here are my attempt shoots:

An hour later at the gardens, we gathered around and walked to the Lake Garden to have our picnic lunch with McD. Most of us were enjoying of taking photographs especially the kids. They managed to explore and shoot whatever they felt like it when given the list of topics in guidance.

Picnic at the Lake Garden was not as good as we thought because it was raining when the foods arrived. Thanks to the PM’ers carried the foods from the McD restaurant out from place. The kids were happy to have their own Happy Meal.

After finished with our lunch and the rain has stopped, we had our large group photos as remembrances.

Then we headed to the nearest shelter to given away the souvenirs to the kids as our appreciation by Maxby; co-founder of PhotoMalaysia.com

At sharp 2.00pm, the kids left and event adjourned. Everyone was happy and smiling and satisfied with the outcome although the weather was pretty hot-burnt. It was a great time to have the charity spirit around. Shall look forward on Kids Klick’s next project next year!
